Howard Lee Evans Sr., 57, of Goldsboro, died Thursday in Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Elm Grove Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, Pikeville. The Rev. Kenneth Vaughn will officate. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Evans was born on January 16, 1948, in Wayne County to the late Sam and Mary Battle Evans. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and attended Norwayne School. He was a former employee of O'Berry Center.

He is survived by his stepmother, Mary Brown Evans of Hillsborough; his wife, Lynette Evans; five sons, Howard L. Evans Jr. of Goldsboro, Reginald Evans of Goldsboro, Corey Evans of Goldsboro, Marcus Evans of Fort Knox, Ky., and Brandon Evans of Bronx, N.Y.; three daughters, Christa Evans, Alicia Evans, and Camilia Evans, all of Goldsboro; 13 grandchildren; six sisters, Daisy Fairbolt of Hillsborough, Roberta Hamilton of Oxon Hill, Md., Ella Wynn of Goldsboro, Betty Middleton of Goldsboro, Eva Middleton of Goldsboro, and Belinda Jones of Forest Hill, Md.; three brothers, Leroy Evans of Goldsboro, Charles Evans of Fayetteville, and Tony Evans of Goldsboro.

A viewing will be held Sunday (today) from 3 until 6 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel of Goldsboro.
