Carroll John "C.J." Williams, 66, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The Rev. Johnny Sasser and the Rev. Rick Mondell will officiate. A private committal service will be held at Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery on Tuesday.

Mr. Williams was born in Wayne County and was the son of the late Leslie Albert and Nettie Mozingo Williams. A veteran of the Army National Guard, he was a farmer and received an Outstanding Young Farmer Award in 1974. He was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church and the Woodmen of the World and was a former member of Arrington Volunteer Fire Department.

His survivors include one, Kelly Marshall Williams, and his wife, Kim, of Wake Forest; one daughter, Toni Lynn Williams of Clayton; six brothers, Leslie M. Williams of Spartanburg, S.C., Jarvis M. Williams of Charleston, S.C., Arthur C. "Art" Williams of Pineville, La., Albert Williams Jr. of Dudley, Arnold R. Williams of Kenly and Maurice A. Williams of Roebuck, S.C.; four sisters, Pauline W. Shafer of Goldsboro, Mary Rachel Cox of Columbia, S.C., Peggy A. Williams of Goldsboro and Sandra Faye Ivey of Raleigh; and three grandchildren, Kyle, Kendyl and Kristen Williams all of Wake Forest.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home following the service tonight.

Flowers are welcome and memorial gifts may be directed to the American Heart Association or to the American Kidney Society.
