DUDLEY -- The funeral for Almond "James" Armwood, 84, of 307 Lorease Drive, formerly of Faison, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Burning Bush Holiness Church. Bishop Chester L. Aycock will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.

Mr. Armwood died Monday at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville.

He was the son of the late Almond and Hepsey Simpson Armwood. He served in the United States Army and was a retired employee with the Duplin County School System.

He is survived by one daughter, June A. Monk of Dudley; three sons, Timothy Armwood of Faison, James Arthur Armwood of Charlotte and Tony Keith Armwood of Savanna, Ga.; four sisters, Annie Oates of Faison, Luevancy Teachey of Goldsboro, Evelyn Armwood of Faison and Annie E. Armwood of Chicago, Ill.; four brothers, Edgar Armwood Sr., Charles Armwood Thomas Armwood of Faison and Cleo Armwood of Washington, DC; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.

The viewing will be held today from 4 until 6 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home in Mount Olive.
