Alton Delano "Dell" Faulkner, 72, of 4811 Bryan-Hardy Road, died Friday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

Dell was born in Greene County to the late Herbert and Mildred Grimsley Faulkner. He worked with Hardy Oil Company, which later merged with Mallard Oil Company in a career that spanned 42 years. Dell was a member of Institute United Methodist Church where he has served as treasurer for a number of years.

Dell enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his friends at Bryan's Store. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2005 from Fairview Cemetery. Dr. Mallie Hinnant officiating.

Dell is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Nethercutt Faulkner; a son, Johnnie Alton "Al" Faulkner of LaGrange; a daughter, Teresa Faulkner Creech and husband, Chris of LaGrange; a sister, Joyce Lee and husband, David of Smithfield; two brothers, James Earl Faulkner and wife, Lynda of Grimesland, Frank Faulkner and wife, Ann of Ormondsville; two grandchildren, John Allen Faulkner and Luke Faulkner Creech.

The family will receive friends Sunday (today) from 6 until 8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, and at other times they will be at the home.

Memorials may be made to Institute United Methodist Church, 4821 Bryan-Hardy Road, LaGrange, N.C., 28551.

Arrangements are with Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange.
