Bertha Lillian Sutton, 81, of 720 South Gum St., died Wednesday at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Duplin County to the late Henry and Ida Miller. She was educated in the Duplin County Public School System. She was a member of Saint Peter's AME Church, Warsaw, where she served on the motherboard.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at St. Peter's AME Church. The Rev. W.S. Thompson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Devotional Gardens. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Sutton is survived by one son, Lt. Col. Ret. Richard E. Sutton of Woodbridge, Va.; one daughter, Lesha Sutton of Warsaw; four sisters, Annie Wilson and Ernestine Pemberton both of Warsaw; Janice Allen and Geraldine Miller both of Springfield, Mass.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will assemble at 11:15 a.m. Monday at the residence in preparation for funeral service.

Rhodes Funeral Home, Warsaw, is serving the family.
