TROUTVILLE, Va. -- James Alvin Faulkner, 71, of 5954 Blackburg Road, died Tuesday at his home.

The funeral will be held Saturday at noon at Oakey's North Chapel in Roanoke, Va. The Rev. Mike Steryous will officiate.

Mr. Faulkner was a native of Sampson County and was the son of the late Henry C. Faulkner Sr. and Susan Ayscue Faulkner. He served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army, worked as a salesman with Oscar Meyer Foods and retired as a salesman with Giles Food Services.

He is survived by his wife, Oreatha Faulkner; one daughter, Glenda Cascioli of Troutville, Va.; one sister, Ernestine F. Brewer of Goldsboro; five half sisters, Ida F. Cowan of Raleigh, Joyce F. Daughtry of Roseboro, Louise F. Allen of Warsaw, Margaret F. Renard of Georgia and Faye F. Warren of Newton Grove; two brothers, Jack Faulkner and Arthur Faulkner of Clinton; and two half brothers, Richard Faulkner of Durham and William Faulkner or Erwin.

The family will receive friends today from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. at the Oakey's North Chapel in Roanoke, Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.

Royal-Hall Funeral Home in Clinton is serving the family.
