PIKEVILLE -- Mr. Wilton Howell, 69, a native of Wayne County who resided at 852 Vail Road, died at his home Tuesday morning and went to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ His Lord.

He was the son of the late Doby and Lois Sullivan Howell.

Mr. Howell was a farmer in Wayne County for over 35 years, and also retired from Agrevo. He was well known as an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the games of baseball and basketball. Wilton especially loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fellowship with friends at Crawford's local country store. He was a graduate of Nahunta High School, and member of Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

The funeral will be held at Seymour Funeral Home on Thursday at 7 p.m., with visitation following the service. The family will receive friends at other times at the home. A graveside service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the P.D. Howell Cemetery located on Stoney Creek Church Road. The Reverend Dr. Richard Glosson of Union Grove Church will officiate at the service.

He is survived by his wife, Annette Winders Howell; his daughter, Gail Pittman, and her husband, Randy, of Pikeville; his son, Johnnie Howell and wife, Penny Jo, of Pikeville; and four grandchildren, Reding Pittman, Emily Pittman, Jake Howell and Jada Howell. Wilton is also survived by his brother, Elwood Howell and wife, Jencie, of Pikeville; his sisters, Daylon Pridgen and husband, Thomas, of Goldsboro and Mary Ann Aycock and husband, Charles, of Pikeville; his sisters-in-law, Marie Sander-ford and husband, Dan, of Florida, Patsy Ginn and husband, Kermit, of Washington; and his brother-in-law, Sheriff Carey Winders and wife, Teresa, of Pikeville; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 1283 Union Grove Church Road, Fremont, N.C., 27830; or to Community Home Care and Hospice, 1201 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
