BETTY HEEKIN

HICKORY -- Betty Cooke Heekin died Saturday at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
She was the daughter of the late John Cooke and Anne Cooke Baldree and was a former homecoming queen at Goldsboro High School. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Heekin; two daughters, Marsha Carson and Karen Cook of Hickory; two stepdaughters, Andrea Heekin and Sarah Heekin of Goldsboro; and three granddaughters.
The funeral will be held by the graveside on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Bart Eaton will conduct the service.
The family will receive friends at Bass-Smith funeral home during the hour prior to the service.
