Robert Edgar Head 86, of 1230 Atlantic Avenue, died today at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lutrell Spell officiating. A private burial will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Head was a native of Greene County and was the son of the late Willie Head and Alice Ginn Head and the widower of Nannie May Hinson Head. He was retired from Burlington Industries and Seymour Funeral Home and was a member of Faro Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Gail Heath, and her husband, Ray, of Goldsboro; two brothers, Bailey Head and Billy Head of Snow Hill; two sisters, Beatrice Dawson and Faye Lane of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, David Pilkington, Teresa Lane and husband, Jimmy and Amanda Peacock and husband, Ervin, all of Goldsboro; his great-grandchildren, Crystal Hall, Ashley Pilkington, Kimberly Pilkington, Melissa Lane, Adam Lane, Justin Woosley, Tianna Hall and Michael Hall; and a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Preston and Dorothy Reason of Snow Hill.

He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas M. Head; a brother, Waitus Head; and two sisters, Doris Smith and Gertrude Stocks.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lane, David Pilkington, Adam Lane, Ervin Peacock, Justin Woosley and Jerry Reason.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service on Wednesday night, and other times at the home of Gail and Ray Heath, 200 Knollwood Drive, Goldsboro.
