Benjamin William Daniels Jr., 84, of 2805 E. Ash St., died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, he was born Jan. 11, 1921, to the late Benjamin William Daniels Sr. and Mabel Grant Daniels. Mr. Daniels was retired co-owner of Daniels and Daniels Construction Company and was a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church. He served his country during WW II in the United States Navy.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Glenn Everett will officiate.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Smith Daniels; a daughter, Bennette Womack and husband, Bill, of Ringgold, Ga.; a son, Benjamin William Daniels III and wife, Jo, of Goldsboro; two step-sons, Reginald Victor Bennett and wife, Martha, of Powhatan, Va., and Robert Harrell Bennett and wife, Sherry, of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Mabel Daniels Dorr and husband, Les, of Henderson; a brother, James N. Daniels and wife, Geraldine, of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Daniels was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Daniels Strider.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church general fund, 2803 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

The family will receive friends today from 4 until 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
