KINSTON -- Durwood Columbus Hudson Sr., 72, of 445 Pear St., died Sunday.
A minister since 1973, he was the former pastor at Full Gospel Church and had served as associate pastor at Revival Mission Church. He had a nursing home ministry at Britthaven of LaGrange for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearline Hudson, and his second wife, Thelma Hudson, along with several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Faye Hudson; one son Durwood Hudson Jr. of Kinston; two daughters, Mae Avery and Judy Avery of Kinston; three stepsons, Eddie Dail and John Miles of Jacksonville, Fla., and Daniel Jones of Richlands; four stepdaughters, Carol Bean of Beulaville and Janice Marshburn, Cathy Melton, Pam Melton and Dianne Melton of Richlands, one brother Cecil Hudson of Rohoboth, Mass.; and 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren
The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Garner Funeral Home. Burial will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service tonight.
