REV. JOSEPH SAYBLACK JR.

WILLIAMSTON -- The Rev. Joseph J. Sayblack Jr., 58, died Wednesday.

He was a former Christian Education Director of the First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro. While serving in that position he formed and directed the Goldsboro-Wayne County Community Band. He had also served at churches in Kentucky and Virginia, was pastor of Hollywood Presbyterian Church in Greenville for 14 years and was the current pastor of Bear Grass and Roberson Chapel Presbyterian Churches.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Martha Daniska Sayblack, and their three sons, Joseph of Robersonville, Lewis of Raleigh, and Philip of the home,

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Bear Grass Primitive Baptist Church, with the Rev. Harry Goodwin officiating. Following the service, there will be a reception and time of memory in the Community Building of the Bear Grass Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to either the Bear Grass or Roberson Chapel Presbyterian churches, 6441 Bear Grass Road, Williamston, N.C., 27892; or to the Hollywood Presbyterian Church, 5103 NC 43 S, Greenville, N.C., 27858.

Arrangements are with Wilkerson Funeral Home in Greenville.
