MOREHEAD CITY -- James Clyde "J.C." Harvell Sr., 79, died Tuesday.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Morehead City. The Rev. Timothy J. Havlicek and the Rev. James H. McKennon Jr. will officiate.
Mr. Harvell retired after 43 years of public accounting and tax practice in Carteret County. He was a former president of the North Carolina Society of Public Accountants and was a member of the Accreditation Council for Accounting of the National Society of Public Accountants.
He was a Mason and a member of the Accepted Scottish Rite. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was recognized as its Outstanding Older Adult for 2004.
His was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Stroud Harvell, and is survived by two sons, Dr. James Clyde Harvell Jr. of Greenville and Cecil Stroud Harvell of Morehead City; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the residence at 947 Highway 24, Newport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Morehead City.
