MOUNT OLIVE -- The funeral for Lena Mae Smith, 87, of 203 S. Cobb St., will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Moses Chapel Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ. The Rev. Kendall Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Park.

Mrs. Smith died Sunday at Evergreen Nursing Home in Greensboro.

She was the daughter of the late James and Hettie Taylor and the widow of David Lee Smith. She was a former employee of J.P. Taylor Company and Wayne County Public Schools.

She is survived by two sons, Willie James Smith of Mount Olive and Thomas Earl Smith of Buffalo, N.Y.; four daughters, Rebecca Manley of Goldsboro, Hettie McCullen and Louise Broadie of Dudley and Jennie King of Mount Olive; one brother, Frank Taylor of Faison; one sister, Bessie Oats of Faison; and 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The viewing hours will be from 3 until 8 today at Garris Funeral Home, and the family will be present from 7 until 8 to receive friends.
