Helen Annis Rose Allen, 75, of 760 Charlie Braswell Road, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Helen was born in Wayne County on May 23,1930 to the late Joe Wilburn Rose and Alice Virginia Hollowell Rose. She had worked with Barry Manufacturing in Goldsboro and was a member of Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.

For those who knew her, Helen will be remembered for her joy in going to the beach, her cooking, and for her Christmas lights. Christmas was always special for the Allen's, everything at the house was always decorated to its finest and there was always candy to eat. She will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Norris officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

More than anything else, Helen has been devoted for 58 years to her husband, James A. Allen, Jr. She is also survived by her children, Wanda Swaney and husband, Pete, of Goldsboro; Teressa Hoke and husband, Leonard, of Goldsboro; Treva Allen of Goldsboro; and James Wilburn Allen and wife, Jenny, of Fremont; her sisters, Katie Mitchell and Faye Rose of Goldsboro; her brother, Joe Rose of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Nikki Allen, Matthew Hoke and Earl Swaney Jr. and several beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved dog, Greasey.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 2127 Hwy. 70 W., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends Friday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home.
