Nathaniel Artis, 67, died Friday at Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Born Oct. 11, 1937 in Greene County, he was the son of the late J.B. and Pricilla Best Artis. He was married to Josephine Smith Artis. He worked as a Brick Mason and a Concrete finisher.

Mr. Artis is survived by his wife, Josephine Artis of Selma; three daughters, Patricia Best of Pine Level, Bonnie Pender and Donna Best, both of Selma; two sons, Charles Artis of Selma, Joe Nathan Artis of Fayetteville; four sisters, Sarah F. White, Laura Flowers, and Georgia M. Hamm, all of Goldsboro, and Doris Byrd of Fayetteville; two brothers, Robert Artis of Goldsboro, and Richard Hamm of Raleigh.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Sianai Holiness Church in Pine Level. The Rev. George A. Streeter will officiate. Burial will follow in the Selma Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Michael D. Bailey Funeral Service Licensee, Selma, 919-965-8284.
