MOUNT OLIVE -- The funeral for Daniel "Boot" Allen will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Saints Delight United Holy Church in Mount Olive. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Mr. Allen died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Duplin County and was the son of the late George and Christine Allen. He attended Duplin County schools and worked in agriculture until his health declined.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Fannie Mae Best Allen; two children, James Earl Allen and Lesley Holmes; four brothers, Freeman Graham, Ed Douglas Allen, Henry Allen and Ralph S. Allen; three sisters, Minnie Ward, Shirley Hornsby and Maggie Melton; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The viewing will be today from 1 until 6 at McInyre Funeral Home in Goldsboro.
