PIKEVILLE -- Grace Aycock Pate, 81, of 863 Hinnant Road, died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Stallings and Rev. Dr. Jerry Stephenson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Born in Wayne County on January 20, 1924, Mrs. Pate was the daughter of the late Roby and Pascha Davis Aycock. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church, where she had taught the Junior Sunday School Class and was a member of the Lancaster-Bryan-Talton Sunday School Class. Mrs. Pate was a charter member and former president of the church's Ladies Auxiliary and was a former member of the Nahunta Home Extension Club.

She is survived by her husband, Dewey M. Pate; one daughter, Martie Pate McCall, and her husband, Randy, of Pikeville; two sons, John D. Pate, and his wife, Betty, of Pikeville and Morris Pate and his wife, Charlene, of Pikeville; two sisters, Mildred A. Wilkerson of Portsmouth, Va., and Hazel A. Griewahn of Dunn; her grandchildren, Leigh Ann Kasin and husband Stuart, Alan McCall and wife Angie, Leslie Parsons and husband Jason, Tyler McCall and Emily Grace Pate; and
two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Blake Kasin and Andrew Chase Parsons.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth A. McNeil, and a brother, Clinton B. Aycock.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.

Memorial donations may be made to the Grace A. Pate Endowment for Foreign Missions, in care of Pleasant Grove F.W.B. Church Ladies Auxiliary, 976 Vail Road, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.
