A.B. DAUGHETY

LAGRANGE -- A. B. Daughety, 61, died Monday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Howard-Carter Funeral home. The Rev. Ronnie Heath will officiate. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery.

Mr. Daughety was the son of the late Margaret and A. B. Daughety Mr. Daughety and, before retiring due to his health, was the third generation owner and operator of A. B. Daughety's Grocery. He was a member of Gordan Street Christian Church.

Mr. Daughety attended Grainger High School, then went on to attend Oak Ridge Military Academy. He also attended Hardbargers Business College and graduated from Plurk School of Creative Arts in Asheville. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard in the 1960s.

Survivors include his wife, Amy H. Daughety of the home; three daughters, Allyson Daughety of Kinston, Deana Layden and Wendy Mendez of the Arba community; one son, A. B. Daughety IV of the home; one brother Luther K. Daughety; two sisters, Susan Daughety and Betsy D. Hobbs; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home and other times at the residence at 4695 Hull Road, LaGrange.
