Janet D. Gooding

Mrs. Janet Davis Gooding, 61, of 222 New Hope Village Drive, went home to be with her Lord Monday after a lingering illness, with her family and friends at her side.

Mrs. Gooding was born in Wayne County on December 1, 1943, to the late James Robert Davis and Beulah Mae Sauls Davis. She was married to the late Frankie Harold Gooding. Mrs. Gooding was a member of Whitley Church, where she had been an active member of the church choir.

A Celebration of Janet's life will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Whitley Church at Princeton with Rev. Andy Stovall and Rev. Lloyd Hargis officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.

Mrs. Gooding was a loving mother of her daughters, Kim Dawson and husband Larry of Goldsboro, Robin Smith of Goldsboro and Majena Howell and husband Brian of Pikeville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Mema," Dawn Dawson Howe, Logan Dawson, Dylan Smith, Cody Howell and Courtney Howell; and her great-grandchild, Ethan Howe. Mrs. Gooding is survived by a special friend, Joe Joyner of Goldsboro.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Davis, and her sister, Diane Eason.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Whitley Church, 188 Whitley Church Road, Princeton, N.C., 27569.

The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service at Whitley Pentecostal Holiness Church at Princeton, and other times at her residence.
