PIKEVILLE -- Kenneth Dwight Blizzard, 58, of 6400 Wayne Memorial Drive, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont. The Reverend Wayne Goff and Pastor Bill Cotton will officiate. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Eureka Cemetery in Eureka.
Mr. Blizzard was born in Wayne County to the late Joseph Blizzard and Melonese Owens Blizzard. He was a member of the Blueberry Hunting Club and a veteran of the United States Army. His military decorations included the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign, Overseas Service Bar, Combat Infantryman Badge, Marksman (Rifle) and the Bronze Star Medal.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Butts Blizzard; his mother, Ellen Blizzard of Goldsboro; two sons, Robert O'Quinn of Goldsboro and Frankie Tilghman and his wife, Cynthia, of Hubert, N.C.; five daughters, Michelle Richardson and her husband, Joseph, of Pensacola, Fla., Sabrina Taylor of Grantham, Rhonda Blizzard of Goldsboro, Paula Schultze and her husband, Ronald, of Pikeville and Lorie Tilghman of Goldsboro; seven sisters, Laura Jones and her husband, Wayne, of Pikeville, Gail Peele and her husband, Billy, of Goldsboro, Ann Potter and her husband, Charles, of Goldsboro, Tammy Hill and her husband, Matt, of Pikeville, Joan Smith and her boyfriend, Glenn Brogden, of Pikeville, Billie Jo Nakaahiki and her husband, Troy, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Gail Casey of Goldsboro; two brothers, Joseph "Buck" Blizzard and his wife, Jackie, of Pikeville and Alvin Harrison of Goldsboro; 14 grandchildren, Joe Richardson Jr., Brittani Schultze, Michael Richardson, Patrick Schultze, Tyler Taylor, Ashton Tilghman, Sarah Tilghman, Hunter Taylor, Joshua Frizzelle, Hampton Tilghman, Amber O'Quinn, Justin Frizzelle, Mallory Tilghman and Kenneth Sutton.
The family will receive friends at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home following the service tonight, and other times at the home of Paula and Ronald Schultze at 6370 Wayne Memorial Drive, Pikeville.
