SNOW HILL -- Harriet Wade Hughes, 68, died Tuesday at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with the Rev. Melvin Moore officiating. Interment will be in Snow Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Hughes was a native of Greene County and was the daughter of the late Hugh and Ruth Oliver Wade. She and her husband, the late Harry Thomas Hughes, operated Castoria Supply Company. She was a member of Grimsley Free Will Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by one daughter, Susan Hughes Whaley of Snow Hill; one son, Harry Thomas "Tommy" Hughes Jr. of Snow Hill; four sisters, Sally "Dean" W. Thearling of Leland, Elaine W. McLawhorn of Ayden, Carol W. Fulford of Winterville and Linda W. Morgan of Ayden; one brother, Maynard M. Wade of Hookerton; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at the funeral home, and other times at the residence at 2264 Mt. Herman Church Road, Snow Hill.
