George C. Shafer, 83, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Shafer retired as a master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force following a military career that spanned three decades and three wars -- World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gladys Shafer; one daughter and her husband, Carol and James Williams; three sons and their wives, Gary and Brenda Shafer, Michael and Joan Shafer, James and Mary Shafer, and Wayne and Evelyn Shafer; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and also following the graveside service on Thursday. At other times they will be at the residence.
