DONNA V. PEACOCK

DUDLEY -- Donna Van Benthuysen Peacock, 52, of 140 Quail Drive, died Tuesday while vacationing in the British Virgin Islands.

Donna was born in Goldsboro and was the daughter of Helen Sauls Van Benthuysen of Goldsboro and the late Richard Van Benthuysen. She worked as a special education teacher with Wayne County Public Schools and was teaching at Southern Wayne High School. Donna had a great love for her students and delighted in seeing the students learn new information. She was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church. Donna had been involved in her community by working with Wayne County Special Olympics and the Tootsie Roll Drive for the Knights of Columbus. She had also worked as a leader with the Girl Scout Troop 820.

A service to celebrate Donna's life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Officiating rector will be the Rev. L. Everette Thomas from the Church of Good Shepard in Asheboro and Gloria Price. A private inurnment will be held at Wayne Memorial Park.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughters, Robin L. Peacock and Haley V. Peacock of the home; her fiancée, John Parker of Goldsboro; and her brother, Richard Van Benthuysen Jr., and wife Lavonda of Raleigh. She is also survived by the father of her children, John Peacock of Goldsboro and his mother, Robin Peacock of Raleigh.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Donna's memory to the Education Foundation For Wayne County Public Schools For The Donna V. Peacock Scholarship, Southern Wayne High School, 124 Walter Fulcher Road, Dudley, NC 28333.

The family will receive friends Saturday at the home of her mother, Helen Van Benthuysen, 1610 Darby Road, Goldsboro. A reception will follow the service at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church where the family will also greet family and friends.
