WALTER HOUSTON

KENANSVILLE -- Walter Houston, 85, of 1303 N.C. Hwy. 11 & 903, died Thursday at Duplin General Hospital.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday from the Kemba Headquarters in Warsaw. Pastor Tommy Holt will officiate. Burial will follow in The Devotional Gardens.

He is the son of the late Johnnie and Emma Houston. He was a member of the Pearsall Chapel Holy Church, where he served on the Deacon Board. He was also a retired maintenance supervisor with James Sprunt Community College.

He is survived by his wife, Katie M. Houston of the home; three daughters, the Rev. Patricia Faison of Kenansville, Barbaina Houston-Black of Elizabeth City and Wynetta Copeland of Lawton, Okla.; three sons, Lorenzo Houston of Fayetteville, the Rev. Ricky Houston of Wilmington and Walter D. Houston of Leesburg, Fla.; one sister, Goldie Moore of Kenansville; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Monday evening from 5 until 7 at the Garris Funeral Home Chapel, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the Kemba Headquarters.

Garris Funeral Home is serving the family.
