LUTHER CARLTON
WARSAW -- Luther "Luke" Carlton, 73, of 771 W. College St., died Saturday at Duplin General Hospital.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hines Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Bishop Otha Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in the Devotional Gardens in Warsaw.
Mr. Carlton was born in Wayne County and attended schools in Wayne and Duplin counties. He was a self-employed carpenter and was a member of Hines Chapel F.W.B. Church. His parents were the late Austin Henry and Rena Carlton.
He is survived by his wife, Aleane Carlton of the home; five sons, Vernon Carlton of Palm Beach, Fla., Larry Carlton of Clinton, Bobby Carlton of Cary, James D. Carlton and Willie Lee Carlton of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five daughters, Debrah Prince of Warsaw, Teresa Creque of Norfolk, Va., Vivian Hardison of Glen Cove, N.Y., Janice Knight of Palm Beach, Fla., and Joyce Wallace of Warsaw; and one brother, Handy Henry of Warsaw.
The wake will be held on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home in Warsaw.
