NELLIE F. WATERS

CALYPSO -- Nellie Florence Waters, 86, of 310 North Fourth St., died Thursday at SunBridge Care Center in Mount Olive.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. The Rev. Bruce Powers and the Rev. Chris Currie officiating. Interment will be in the Calypso Cemetery.

Miss Waters was a long-time employee of Calypso Plywood Company and Duplin Face Veneer Company. She was an active member of Calypso Baptist Church and its Somen's Missionary Union and was a former Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, J. D. and Helen Waters of Calypso; a brother and sisters-in-law, Mosley and Toy Waters of Calypso, Ludie Waters of Calypso and Irene Waters of Clinton; three grandchildren, David Waters and wife, Tammy, of Mount Olive, Kandy Brock of Mount Olive, and Renee Jernigan and husband, Anthony, of Elizabeth City; other grandchildren including Joe Johnson and wife, Antoinette, of Faison, and W. L. Johnson of Calypso; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James David and Florence Jackson Waters; brothers, Robert Waters, Ed Waters, Bill Waters, Floyd Waters, and Huey Waters; sisters, Annie Ruth Kelly, Ruby Rivenbark, and Ada Spivey; and a niece and three nephews that she raised as her own children: Catherine Wanish Waters Johnson, William Lester "Red" Waters, James Rudolph "Pooky" Waters, and Kenneth Charles Waters.

The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home on Saturday from 7 until 9 p.m. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
