JAMES E. HOLMES

MOUNT OLIVE -- James Earl Holmes, 79, of 408 West Station St., died Saturday morning at his home.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday from The Mount Olive Church of God of Prophecy with the Reverends Chris Barnes and Chris Singleton officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Holmes was a veteran of the U. S. Army and he had been employed with Waukesha Electric Systems in the assembly dept.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie Gregory Holmes of the home; two sons, Robert "Bob" Holmes and wife, Carolyn of Goldsboro, Kenneth Holmes and wife, Antonette of Mount Olive; three daughters, Ellen Dearman and husband, Tommy of Mount Olive, Shirley Jones and husband, Clay of Mount Olive, and Sharon Snipes of Mount Olive; a brother, Rodney Holmes of Garner; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois McCullen; his parents, Benjamin and Nora Bowden Holmes; a sister, Vina Mae Wilson; and two brothers, Elbert Holmes and Norman Holmes.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 until 9 at Tyndall Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the residence.
