FLORENCE BALDWIN

Florence Vivian Merritt Baldwin, 93, a resident of the Pines in Goldsboro, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private and will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Mrs. Baldwin was born in Wilmington on Nov. 8, 1911, to the late Robert Lee Merritt and Dozier Cowan Merritt. She had lived in Goldsboro since the 1930s and was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfield Morgan Baldwin, who died in 1975, and is survived by her son, Dr. Winfield Morgan "Skeets" Baldwin Jr. and his wife, Virginia Rosemond "Jinx" Baldwin of Athens, Ga.; and a daughter, Carolyn Faye Baldwin Sheffield, and her husband, Dr. Gary Sheffield, of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Graham Merritt, Morris Edward Merritt, John Dudley Merritt and Fred Hampton Merritt, and her sisters, Jesse Merritt Foster and Louise Martha Merritt.

The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home following the service on Saturday.
