DAVID J. MERCER
David James "Pop" Mercer, 86, of 115 Warren St., Calypso, died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
He was a retired machine operator with the former Calypso Plywood Company and he was a member of the Mount Olive Fore Christ Church. He was the son of the late James Claude and Bessie Goff Mercer and was also preceded in death by his sisters and brothers.
He is survived by his niece, Janet Mercer Asbill of the home.
The funeral will be held tonight at 7 at Tyndall Funeral Home with Pastors Justin Heath and Chad Smith officiating. Visitation will follow the service. At other times, friends may call at the residence. Burial will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Calypso Cemetery.
Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive is serving the family.
