LEON SMITH

Mr. Leon Smith, 83, of 209 Bear Creek Road, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Leon was born in Wayne County and was the son of the late Giles and Mary Strickland Smith. He had managed C.L. Body Shop for over 25 years and had worked with Southco Outlet in Goldsboro since it opened. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Leon will be remembered as a generous, caring, compassionate man and loyal friend to so many. The love of his life was God, family and friends. He will be missed by many.

He was a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a former member of the Patetown Church of God.

A service to celebrate Leon's life will be held tonight at 7 at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Jimmy Whitfield and Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Leon is survived by his devoted wife, Lucille Grant Smith; his daughter, Pam Smith Daniels of Goldsboro; his granddaughters, Nicki Pittman and husband Mike of Goldsboro and Brandi Mason and husband Chris of Raleigh; his great-granddaughter, Kayla Pittman; and his sister, Ellen Mitchell of Goldsboro.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the First Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends in the church vestibule following the service tonight, and other times at the residence.
