ROCHELLE THORNTON

Rochelle Crumpler Sasser Thornton, 89, formerly of Goldsboro, died Tuesday in Mount Pleasant, S.C.

The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. The Reverend Dr. Fred Clarke will officiate. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Mrs. Thornton was born in Wayne County to the late Leon Crumpler and Estelle Mitchell West and was the widow of Carl Sasser and James Thornton. She was retired from Sears in Goldsboro and was a member of the First Christian Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Pat Sasser Hite, and her husband, Bill, of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; one son, Michael Sasser, and his wife, Joyce, of Beaufort; five grandchildren, Carla Clifton, Jimmy Hall, Dewey Sasser, Dawn Adams and Daniel Conover; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her stepchildren, Shirley Powell, George Thornton, James Thornton and Nelson Thornton, all of Goldsboro.

The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 at Seymour Funeral Home.
