KENNETH S. WHITFIELD
PIKEVILLE -- Kenneth S. Whitfield, 66, of the Nahunta Community, died Tuesday at Wake Medical Center.
Mr. Whitfield was born Jan. 3, 1939, in Wayne County to the late Ben and Mary Hudson Whitfield. He was a crop insurance adjuster for over 35 years with Old Republic Insurance and Fireman's Fund Insurance. He was a member of Rains Crossroads Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, J.C. Whitfield and a sister, Linda Davenport.
His survivors include his wife, Louise Godwin Thornton; one son, Sherald Whitfield of the home; two sisters, Brenda Jones and husband Milford and Libby Graham and husband Donald; and a special nephew, Ben Whitfield.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Whitfield officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 3015 S. Memorial Drive, S-A, Greenville, N.C. 27834.
