P. DURHAM GRADY SR.

WHITE FLASH -- Paul Durham Grady Sr., 78, of 796 White Flash Road, Mount Olive, at the White Flash, died Saturday morning at his home.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday from the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery.

Born and raised in the White Flash community where he spent the majority of his life, he was a graduate of the B. F. Grady High School and also Atlantic Christian College. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was retired from the N. C. National Guard reserves, retiring as Lt. Col. with 26 years of service.

He was a farmer and carpenter and was a member of Garner's Chapel Baptist Church of which he joined in 1959. It was there that he served as deacon, a Sunday School teacher, a choir member, and was treasurer for 26 years.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Lee Rouse Grady of the home; his mother, Carrie Waters Grady of the White Flash community; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam G. and Phil Brewer of Mount Olive; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul D. Grady Jr. and Gale Grady of the White Flash community; three grandchildren, Meghan Brewer, Holly Grady, and John Paul Grady; a brother and sister-in-law, Randolph and Reva Grady of Harker's Island; his mother-in-law, Virginia H. Barwick of Mount Olive; and several nieces and nephews.

His father was the late Paul R. Grady.

Visitation will be this evening from 5 until 7 at Tyndall's in Mount Olive, and at other times, the family will be at the home.
