Raymond Daniel "R.D." Hart, 80, of 135 Blueberry Road, died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Pete Williams and Bill Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Hart was born in Greene County to the late Robert Daniel Hart and Virginia Powell Hart. He served as a detective for 29 years with the Goldsboro Police Department and was a Navy Veteran of World War II. Mr. Hart was an avid fisherman and was a member of Harvest Baptist Church and the Golden Agers. He was also a member of the Wayne County Law Enforcement Association.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes Pender Hart; his daughters, Dianne Hart Swicegood of Clemmons and Betsy Outlaw and husband, Glenn of Goldsboro; his sons, Steve Davis and wife, Donna of Goldsboro and Ricky Davis and wife, Lori of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Jada Sanz, Chris Norton and wife Heather, Stacy Bender and husband Steven, Don Smith, Jr. and wife Tracie, Katie Davis, Karen Davis, Steve Davis, Jr., Kristi Walker and husband Rob, Dylan Blythe, Samantha Blythe, Scott Wiggins and wife Jaime, Brent Wiggins, Angela Shader and husband Paul and Chris Outlaw; and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Davis; his sister, Helen Fairall, his son-in-law, Kenneth Swicegood; and his nephew, Dennis Shaun Fairall.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at THE home.
