GARY BAKER
LAGRANGE -- Gary Raymond Baker, 62, of 204 North Carey St., died Wednesday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Baker received a voice scholarship to Snead College where he earned an associate's degree and later he received degrees in history and philosophy from Georgia State University. He worked a number of years as a graphic artist in the newspaper industry and most recently worked as a representative with Allstate Insurance. He was the Immediate Past President of the LaGrange Rotary Club and was Administrative Assistant for Rotary International. In his younger years, Mr. Baker served as a scout leader and coach. He had a great love of the sea and ships and his hobbies were coin collecting, reading and photography.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara W. Baker; son, Eric Baker and wife Nikki of Atlanta; daughter, Karen Baker of Atlanta; brother, Norman Haig of Lake Helen, Fla.; sister, Kathy Peters of Greenville, Tenn.; and two stepchildren, Ronald Watson Jr. of Mariposa, Calif., and Christie Lee Watson of San Francisco, Calif.
A service to celebrate his life will be held tonight at 7 at LaGrange Rotary Club, under the direction of Rouse Funeral Home.
