HALLIE MARTIN

Hallie Miller Williford Martin, 82, of Princeton, died Tuesday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh following complications from a fall.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory. The Reverends James Corbett and Dennis Pollock will officiate. Burial will be in Selah Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Martin was born in Wayne County on Nov. 19, 1922, to late Richard Bowden "Pete" Williford and Ida Elizabeth Williford.

She graduated from Atlantic Christian College with a bachelor of science degree in education and taught elementary children in the Wayne County Public Schools for 23 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of Riverside Free Will Baptist Church in Princeton.

Her survivors include one daughter, Hilda M. Zimmer and husband Phil of Garner; two sons, Leon G. Martin of Princeton, and Durwood G. Martin and wife Jeannie of Raleigh; three brothers, Clarence and wife Evelyn, Bruce and wife Ruth, and Caggie and wife Lola; five sisters, Esther Capps, Doris Ayscue, Abbie Snead, Marjorie Barden, Myrna Jivatode and husband George, and Barbara Fletcher; sisters-in-law, Gray Williford and Alice Williford; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny and Lehmon Williford.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory.
