J.R. PEARCE JR.

PRINCETON -- William Waverly "J.R." Pearce Jr., 62, died Monday at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Born on Feb. 18, 1943, in Wayne County to the late William Waverly and Molissia Talton Pearce, he was a foreman with the Princeton Rock Quarry. He enjoyed riding horses and was a member of the D&H and Lazy C. saddle clubs.

The funeral will be conducted tonight at 7 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton. The Rev. Steve Hall and the Rev. Earl Johnson will officiate.

Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Elizabeth United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Pearce is survived by his wife, Melba Jones Pearce; one, son Mark Pearce of McKinney, Texas; two daughters, Melissa Walsh of Clearwater, Fla., and Amy Pearce Hess of Havelock; three stepdaughters, Jeannie Evans and Amy Alhtouse of Brogden and Cindy Stephenson of Pine Level; one brother, Billy Pearce of Princeton; sisters, Elsie Worley and Shelby Clapp of Durham, Rachel Penny and Judy Yates of Princeton; and eleven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home immediately following the funeral tonight.
