A graveside service for Jesse Ruffin Hinson, 74, will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. The Rev. Dann Patrick will officiate and the service will include military honors.

Mr. Hinson died Tuesday at the home of his granddaughter, Cindy Bailey.

He was born in Seven Springs to the late Leslie H. and Beatrice Ruffin Hinson and was married to the late Mabel Outlaw Hinson. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having been a member of the 1st Calvary that served in the Korean War. Mr. Hinson retired from Dupont in Kinston and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Mount Olive. He also was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by his four grandchildren, Doug Swinson of Mount Olive, Teresa Jolley of Dudley, Lynette Coward of Washington, N.C., and Cindy Bailey of Pikeville; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 3 until 4 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and at other times at Alan and Cindy Bailey's residence, 694 Gurley Dairy Road, Pikeville.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Faith Free Will Baptist Church Hymnal Fund, 1200 W. Grantham St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
