HELEN ELLIOTT

OXFORD -- Helen Currin Elliott, 91, mother of Betty E. Jackson of Goldsboro, died Monday at Granville Medical Center.

Mrs. Elliott was a native of Granville County. She was the daughter of the late John D. and Claudia Kinton Currin and was the widow of Sam Howard Elliott.

She is also survived by three other daughters, Helen Faye Elliott of Henderson, Mae E. Hobgood of Oxford and Dixie E. Bennett of Raleigh; three sons, Douglas Ray Elliott, Sam Howard Elliott Jr. and Joe E. Elliott all of Oxford; four sisters, Marvell C. Hilton, and Jo Bea C. Stanfield of Oxford, Lester C. Jones of Burlington and Candace C. Slaughter of Roxboro; one brother, Chandler T. Currin of Oxford; and 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Hester Baptist Church, where she was a member, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 until 8:30 at Gentry-Newell and Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford, and other times, at the home of Joe and Peggy Elliott, 515 Williamsboro Street, Oxford.
