BENJAMIN WHITLEY
Benjamin Earl Whitley, 86, of 128 Brandywine Lane, Spartanburg, S.C., died Tuesday at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Whitley was born in Wayne County and was the son of the late Leslie and Lelia Boyette Whitley. He was married to the late Mary Elizabeth Taylor Whitley. He was retired from Southern Railroad and was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was a charter member of First Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Fred Clarke officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Whitley is survived by his daughter, Judy W. Brogden and husband Ron of Spartanburg, S.C.; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 1609 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
