JOSEPH CROGHAN
Father Joseph F. Croghan, M.M., of 517 Shelly Drive, a Maryknoll Missioner to the Philippines for 34 years, died on January 20, 2005, at St. Teresa's Residence in Maryknoll, N.Y.
Fr. Crogham was 71 and a priest for 42 years. He was awarded the Presidential Decree from former President Marcos for his work with the Christian Communities and the Federation of Free Farmers, and also taught Scripture at San Carlos University in Cebu. He was the Superior of the Maryknoll House in Manila and built a church in Lupon. Upon his return to Goldsboro, he was temporary Chaplain at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base as Catholic Chaplain at Wayne County Correctional Center.
He was predeceased by his parents Helen and Joseph Croghan and a sister, Mary Croghan.
Father Croghan is survived by his sisters, Lucille and Joan Croghan of Goldsboro and Loretta Klahre of Toms River, N.J.; a niece, Barbara Levers and her husband, James, of New Egypt, N.J.; and three nephews, Michael and Karen Kahre of Selma, N.C., Thomas Klahre of Florida and Douglas and Jennifer Klahre of Wall, N.J.; and two grandnephews, Troy Klahre and Zachary Levers.
A funeral Mass was concelebrated on Thursday, Jan. 27, at Maryknoll Society Center and burial was t Maryknoll Cemetery, both in Maryknoll, N.Y.
In his memory, Mass Cards or donations to St. Teresa's Residence, 105 Ryder Road, Maryknoll, N.Y., 10545 will be appreciated.
