CARL PATE

MAGNOLIA -- A graveside service for Carl Edward "Pete" Pate, 79, of Magnolia, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Wallace Family Cemetery in Albertson. The Rev. Jeff Toler will officiate.

Mr. Pate died Tuesday at GlenCare Nursing home in Warsaw.

A lifetime resident of Duplin County, Mr. Pate was born on Aug. 1, 1925, to the late Robert Franklin and Katie Pate. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Herring Pate of the home; three daughters, Kathryn Pate Stancil and Linda Pate Loucks of Turkey and Mary Pate Teachey of Willard; two stepdaughters, Carol Pearce of Goldsboro and Donna Olive of Durham; one brother, Jasper Pate of Virginia; and 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Pate; his stepson, Buddy Carter; his grandchild, Michael Garner; and one sister and seven brothers.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Community Funeral Home in Warsaw, and other times at the family home at 312 Croom Street in Magnolia.
