STANTONSBURG -- Wayne "Nut" Ellis, 45, of 1011 Sandpit Road, died Friday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Delight Missionary Baptist Church in Walstonburg. The Rev. Tony Coppage will officiate. Burial will be in St. Delight Church Cemetery in Greene County.

Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Speight Ellis of the home; four daughters, Alexis Ellis of the home, Marikia Speight of Stantonsburg, Kanisha Ellis of Greenville and Latoya Armstrong of Snow Hill; one son, Wayne Ellis of Walstonburg; his mother, Adell Hardy Ellis of Snow Hill; sisters, Jean Jones and Carolyn Ward of Snow Hill, Sandra Seberry and Patricia Brickhouse of Wilson, Grace Tyson of Fountain, Joan Reynolds of Grifton and Vanda Glover of Greenville; brothers, Bobby Hardy of Snow Hill, Jimmy Ellis of East Orange, N.J., Tony McNair of Saratoga, Roland McNair of Pine Level, Thomas Ellis of Greenville and Charles Moore of Raleigh; and three grandchildren.

The viewing will be from 3 until 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Hamilton Funeral Chapel in Wilson, and the family will be present to receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence at 1011 Sandpit Road, and will assemble there one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
