ALEXANDER O. WALKER

On January 21, 2005, Alexander O. Walker, faithful husband, devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather departed this life to go to his heavenly home.

A service will be held Tuesday, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Greensboro. The family will receive visitors at 12:30 p.m., and the service will follow at 1 p.m.

Mr. A.O. Walker was born on June 20, 1919 in Harnett County, to the late Gad and Lula Walker. He attended Walkertown Elementary School and is a graduate of Shaw Town High School in Lillington. He held the Bachelor and Doctor of Divinity Degree in Theology from the Clarksville School of Theology in Clarksville, Tenn.

He married Swindell Baxter on July 24, 1937, in Lillington. She was the love of his life for 66 years and ten months, until her death. Five children were born of this union; one daughter, Shirley E. Blue (Odell) of Dunn; four sons, James L. Walker Sr. (Carol) of Raleigh, Alexander O. Walker Jr. (Ethel) of Middlesex, Trellis B. Walker (The Rev. Barbara) of Goldsboro, and Thomas E. Walker (Glenda) of Jamestown; one sister, Carrie Miles of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Gad Walker of Bunn Level; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of the service.
