REV. LUTHER SWINSON

MAPLE HILL -- The Rev. Luther Swinson, 84, died Monday at Britthaven of Pamlico in Grantsboro.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church and served as pastor of numerous Free Will Baptist churches in Eastern North Carolina for over 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Peanie Mobley Swinson of Britthaven of Pamlico; a son, Harold Swinson of Kenly; daughters, Linda Ann Pierce of maple Hill and Alice Purifoy of New Bern; brother, Nick Swinson of Maple Hill; sister, Peanie Burton of Ocala, Fla.; and seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. The Reverends Harold Swinson and Ronnie Mohn will conduct the service. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Swinson Family Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home to receive friends one hour prior to the funeral. At other times they will be at the home of Jimmy and Linda Pierce, 441 Gurganus Road, Maple Hill.
