REV. JACK E. MUSICK

Rev. Jack E. Musick of 108 Decoy Drive, Pikeville, N.C., went to his heavenly home to meet his Lord and Savior and to be reunited with his grandson, Chris Backus, on Saturday.

Jack Elbert Musick Sr. was born in Sand Mountain, Ala., to John Thomas and Pauline Musick. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, N.C. (Barton College), where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.S.. in theological studies in 1969. Over the years he served the Lord as a minister to several Disciples of Christ churches in North Carolina and Virginia. His first church was Hookerton Christian Church in Hookerton, N.C., then over the years he served at the following churches: Ary Grove Christian Church, Walnut Cove Christian Church, Grahram Christian Church, Eureka Christian Church, and retired at First Christian Church in Narrows, Va. While in retirement, Preacher Musick answered the call of Our Lord and Savior and became the minister at New Hope Christian Church in New Bern, N.C., then he pastored at Selah Christian Church, where he retired once again.

He was a member of Selah Christian Church and Newton Grove Masonic Lodge #267, and was a very active supporter of the Christian church camp for the mentally challenged and handicapped. He was a former member of the Hookerton and Walnut Cove Volunteer Rescue Squads.

Funeral services will be held Monday (tonight) at 7 in the Chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro, N.C., with the Rev. Gordon Lee and Patrick Mustin officiating. Entombment services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 at the Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum.

He is survived by his wife, Olivia Pike Musick of Pikeville; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Joe Backus of Mount Olive; two sons, Jackie Musick of the home and Jim and Jo Musick of Goldsboro; one brother, Thomas Musick of Glencoe, Ala.; grandchildren, Andy Backus and wife, Mandy, Amber Musick, Jamie Musick, and a granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer Backus, all of Goldsboro; and two great-grandchildren, JD Backus and Kasey Ann Backus.

The family will receive friends tonight at the funeral home following the service, and at other times at the family home at 108 Decoy Drive in the Pikeville Community.

Johnny Britt, Charles E. "Tom" Britt, Kenneth Thornton, John Tart, Charlie Hix, Jim Tabor and Billy Carter will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Selah Christian Church, c/o Jean Hollowell, 2446 Stevens Mill Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The Musick Family is being served by Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home & Crematory.
