FAISON ODOM JR.

MOUNT OLIVE -- Faison Everette Odom Jr., 73, of 702 Francis St., died Friday afternoon at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. The Rev. Larry Pittman will officiate.

A native of the Dobbersville community, Mr. Odom was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the Korean War. He was a retired salesman and a retired volunteer fireman with the Mount Olive Fire Dept. He was a former member of the Mount Olive Jaycees and a member of the Mount Olive V. F. W. Post and the Lions Club of Mount Olive.

He is survived by his wife, Effie Mae Odom of the home; his mother, Essie King Odom Payne of Deltona, Fla.; a son, Brian Odom of Nahunta; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Odom Pittman and the Rev. Larry Pittman of Concord; a brother, Crouse Odom of Kinston; five grandchildren, Brian Neal Odom of Rosewood, Christopher Wade Odom of Dudley, Renee Pittman Campbell of Indian Trail, Samuel Everette Pittman of Concord, currently serving with the N. C. National Guard in Kuwait, and Graham Anthony Pittman of Concord; and a great-grandchild, Mauryn Faith Campbell of Indian Trail.

He was preceded in death by his father, Faison E. Odom Sr., and one sister, Stephnya Hill.

The family will receive friends at the residence at 702 Francis St., in Mount Olive.

Tyndall Funeral Home is handling the service.
