BELLE N. SUTTON
LAGRANGE -- Belle Newsome Sutton, 92, of 5547 Bear Creek Road, died Monday at her home.
The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Smeltzer and Rev. Greg Stancil officiating. A private family committal will be held Thursday at Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Sutton was born in Wayne County to the late John and Polly Daniels Newsome. Her husband of 75 years, William I. Sutton, preceded her in death on November 17, 2004. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Sutton; and a son, William Franklin Sutton. She was a member of White Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Polly and Bill Teel of LaGrange and Shelby and Remus Lee of Kinston; three sons and their wives, Lynwood D. and Doris Ann Sutton of LaGrange, Jack W. and Evelyn Sutton of Goldsboro and R. Ronald and Donna Sutton of Henderson; two special granddaughters whom they raised, Pamela Smith, and her husband, Curtis Smith, of Seven Springs and Carol Heisley and her husband, Michael Heisley, of St. Charles, Ill.; one sister, Laurah Howell; one brother, John D. Newsome; and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Sutton of Goldsboro; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Rouse Funeral Home following the service tonight, and at other times at the home.
