CAROL P. BENDER

PATETOWN -- Carol Peele Bender, 49, executive director of Wayne Opportunity Center, died Thursday, December 16, 2004, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Fremont United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Peele Family Cemetery in the Saulston community, near her late father, George R. Peele. The family will be in the fellowship hall of the church on Saturday from 7 until 9 p.m.

Surviving are her husband, James "Jim" R. Bender Jr.; stepson, Richard Lee Bender of Goldsboro; mother, Willhelmenia Stroud Peele of Saulston; sister, Jerry Shell of Millbrook, Ala.; brothers, George "Biggie" Peele and Robert Peele of Goldsboro; several nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law, James and Julia Bender of Fremont; sisters-in-law, Cynthia Tucker of Wilson and Connie Hopper of Goldsboro; goddaughter, Jody Alexander; and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bryan.

The family will meet at the James and Julia Bender home, 201 Sycamore St., Fremont.
